A Special Calling, and A Shot Out for Steve-O

Friday, September 21st, 2007

TGIF, gang!

Today’s post is special, because I wanted to take the time out to talk about one of my online friends. JenFK’s adorable little boy, Alex, is participating in the 2007 Columbus Buddy Walk to help raise money for the awareness for those individuals with Downs Syndrome. Here’s where YOU can help! Team Alex is almost to their PHENOMINAL goal of raising $7,500.00, but they still have 8 days left! Here’s a note that Jen sent to me:

I’m sending out friendly reminders today that the 2007 Columbus Buddy Walk will take place in just nine days. That still leaves plenty of time to make a donation, which will help fund research, education, and advocacy programs for individuals with Down syndrome. Every last cent makes a huge difference, and we’re hoping to count you in as a Team Alex supporter. All donations are tax deductible, and can be made online by visiting www.columbusbuddywalk.org and clicking on Team Alex.

I hope that you all can help donate to Team Alex! Alex ( and his little sister, too!) is a GREAT little boy, full of life and a beautiful spirit! I know that it would make all of us proud to see Team Alex reach their goal!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I hope that you all had a great week, and that you are ready for the weekend! I received a very nice e-mail from a fellow reader, Michelle. In it, she mentioned Stevo-O (from the famed” Jackass”) and his new show over at USA Network. I wanted to share a clip of the e-mail with you all, so that YOU too can stop by his new website and check out his show!
As you may already know, Steve-O is currently busy shooting the first
season of his new show for USA Network, Dr. Steve-O. Steve-O, along with
his hot nurse assistant Trishelle (from the Real World) are
helping wussy guys become the men they always wanted to be. I’m sure you
always thought he had a good heart deep down, didn’t you?
I think you and your readers will be interested to check out these
teaser clips from the show, which you can feel free to embed on your site
(featuring plenty of craziness):
http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=46EA85DC94EB5B54If you’re looking for more, the Dr. Steve-O website
(http://drsteveo.com/) has officially launched and the doctor is waiting
for his next patient to arrive…you. Check out the site to vote for
the Hot Nurse of the Week, see preview clips from the show, and
investigate the “Nutwacker”. But if you mess with Nurse Trishelle, the doctor
might not be pleased.
Everyone say, ” Thanks Michelle” for that info!
We still do not have a winner for this week’s contest, so I am going to call is scraps by tomorrow if no one answers it correctly by the end of the day today. I will have the answer to the question, and post a new contest sometime next week. I am not going to announce the day that we will have the contest, as I want to make sure that YOU come by and check us out! :)
Wishing you all a great weekend! Until next time!
Cheers!
Tom hangs with Mike Valley and Kat Von D on radio show
Wednesday, September 19th, 2007
Happy Wednesday, everyone!
Last night,Tom was on talk radio with Mike Valley and Kat Von D! There was a lot to be discussed, and here is a clip of them all together at the radio show! Enjoy!
Wasn’t that cool to catch Tom Green, Mike Valley, and Kat Von D all together? Loved it!
Also, there STILL isn’t a winner for the contest! Ok, the clue that I am about to give you and the help too, is the biggest one yet! Preston Lacey is in an upcoming movie with an old SNL cast member. The first person to give the name of the movie AND have the correct name of the SNL cast member that will be in the movie will win a Peace Frogs shirt of their choice. Once again, here are the rules to the contest:
- Everyone can play, but if you do not live in the United States, you will need to pay for the shipping of the t-shirt to your home, which is $50.00 USD. This fee must be enacted as it is very expensive for the company to send the t-shirts to countries outside of the US.
• The first (1) person to leave the correct answer in the comment section will be the winner of that week’s contest.
• One (1) winner per week will be awarded a Peace Frogs t-shirt of their choice from the Peace Frogs website ( www.peacefrogs.com).
• The winner will be notified from me, and MUST provide me with their e-mail address so that I can notify Mr. Jones of their name and in turn the winner can be compensated the shirt.
• The contest will be on any given day of the week, so you’ll need to check in every day to see if a new contest is listed!
• This blog nor Peace Frogs will not be held liable for t-shirts that are lost in the mail, damaged in transaction or the likes thereof.
• Please, only one (1) winner per address.
• By playing along, the winners agree to the above said rules and regulations of the game
- I will also need the winners name, address, and which shirt they would like to receive so that I can forward it to Mr. Jones
Good luck, gang!!!
Wishing you all a great day! Until then, cheers!
Tom and Kathy Griffin plus our contest!
Monday, September 17th, 2007
Happy Monday, gang! I hope that you all had a great weekend!
Tom recently posted about attending the Daytime Emmy Award show, and took his camera with him so that all of us fans can have a behind-the-scenes look at the show. Tom talked with Kathy Griffin on the red carpet, who, by the way, won an Emmy for her show “ My Life on the D-List“. WTG, Kathy!
tom-green-with-kathy-griffin.jpg
Also, don’t forget to take a minute or two to stop by Tom’s blog and shoot him an e-mail. He likes being loved, just as we all do! Viva el ano de mustache! ;)
On to super fun news….
I am happy to announce that we have lined up a wonderful donor for prize giveaways! Peace Frogs is a company that has been made popular from their emblem, which is a frog giving a peace sign.
peace-frogs.jpg
The message is simple – to keep the environment clean and protected, to promote peace, and to give back to the community. I could not think of any reason why I should not ask them to help me out for prizes. Not only did Peace Frogs help out, but the CEO of Peace Frogs, Catesby Jones, has helped us out EMENSELY! Every week for the next six months, you have the opportunity to win a t-shirt of your choice from Peace Frogs!!! There are a few rules, though, so please read carefully:
• Everyone can play, but if you do not live in the United States, you will need to pay for the shipping of the t-shirt to your home, which is $50.00 USD. This fee must be enacted as it is very expensive for the company to send the t-shirts to countries outside of the US.
• The first (1) person to leave the correct answer in the comment section will be the winner of that week’s contest.
• One (1) winner per week will be awarded a Peace Frogs t-shirt of their choice from the Peace Frogs website ( www.peacefrogs.com).
• The winner will be notified from me, and MUST provide me with their e-mail address so that I can notify Mr. Jones of their name and in turn the winner can be compensated the shirt.
• The contest will be on any given day of the week, so you’ll need to check in every day to see if a new contest is listed!
• This blog nor Peace Frogs will not be held liable for t-shirts that are lost in the mail, damaged in transaction or the likes thereof.
• Please, only one (1) winner per address.
• By playing along, the winners agree to the above said rules and regulations of the game
- I will also need the winners name, address, and which shirt they would like to receive so that I can forward it to Mr. Jones
I think that these rules seem fair and clear enough. If you all have any questions, please do not hesitate to leave a comment in the comment section, and I will reply to you as soon as I can!
And now, for this week’s contest!!!!!!!
Preston Lacy from “Jackass” was on the show last month. He talked about being in a film with another famous celebrity. Who was the celebrity, and what was the name of the movie that is being released? *Note: this is a TWO part question!!*
The first person to answer correctly in the comment section wins a t-shirt of their choice from Peace Frogs! I will be e-mailing the winner, so when you leave a comment, please make sure that you enter a valid e-mail address!
Wishing everyone a great Monday! Good Luck! ;)
TGIF, gang!
I hope that you all had a great week, and that you are still tuning into the channel to watch Tom! Yes, folks, the Year of the Mustache rides again ( heh.. ;))!
Here’s a little message that Tom posted this afternoon on his website:
Who Watches The Channel?
Just out of curiosity, I was wondering if you could send me an email, and describe yourself. I mean, I have been babbling away and showing you guys everything I can think of. You have seen the inside of my refrigerator! But could you guys send me an email, anybody who is reading this. Tell me something about yourself. I would like to know. Just go to the front page of this website, and click on the email button. Tell me your age. Your name. Do you consider yourself a quiet person? Wackky? Crazy? Nuts? What are some of your hobbies? Do you like football? Soccer? Baseball? Skateboarding? Demolition Derby? Are you a student? How old are you? Do you spend lots of time on the computer? Do you watch TV? What kind of music do you like? Where are you from? Anything else you can think of would be fun too.
Email me now. I am checking my email all afternoon. Upload a photo of yourself too. And, I would love to hear from new people to The Channel. I really hope some people who have never emailed before, can check in. Welcome to The Channel. I’ll check my emails soon. You guys rock.
Tom Green
So, if you are reading this, and you are a fan of his show, show him some love by dropping him a line! I am sure that he will greatly appreciate it!
Almost There
Thursday, September 13th, 2007
Happy Thursday, gang!
Things are still happening over at Tom’s blog, as we all await the next move from Tom and his new web-o-vision. The Year of the Mustache lives on people! Here’s a note that Tom left for all of us over at his website:
Hey guys. Another day, another… day. I guess what I was just thinking about is this. I appreciate whoever you are, if you are here and reading this. Thanks. I really mean it. I have been doing this website for years. Turning it into a TV channel for about a year. And it really wouldn’t make any sense if it wasn’t for you. So thanks for watching. I think that you guys have helped me a lot over the past year. This is a place where we all meet everyday. This is a place where we can all discuss things. This is a place where all this webo-vision nonsense gets figured out.
I also want to apologize for not being on the air this month. I was planning on it.
I think the thing that I have noticed over the past year, is that many of you are not aware of the Grand Plan for the national webovision here. I gues partly because I don’t yammer on and on about it. In fact I really only spill out little bits of the plan, in dribs and drabs. Frankly, I think talking about where we are going with The Channel can sound a bit boring. But I do want you to know, that we are always planning 6-8 months ahead of schedule. There is lots of cool stuff going on behind the scenes, to build a more stable and productive webovision environment for the future. Man, that sounds crazy. Is it supposed too? Sort of.
The good news, at least to me, is that it is all true. This is going to be a fun year. As I mentioned yesterday there is lots of cool stuff brewing on the horizon around here. Things are going to start happening at a much faster pace.
I am hoping some time over the next week we will be able to go ahead and launch some of our new features. But this will only be just the beginning. Yesterday I met with some real television engineers. We are going to be revamping certain elements of the studio, which will allow me to syndicate the webo-vision show, onto TV. A Web/TV simulcast. This will happen LIVE every night, and details will be announced very soon. This is going to happen fast, and we could potentially be on TV screens in certain american markets as soon as December. So this is partly the reason for the delay in production. We are adding many new features to the studio, upgrading broadband, and generally just taking the entire production facility (in my living room) up to the next level.
I don’t want to get into too many details, because this will spoil the suprise. But know that this is going to mean an increase in my production budget, which will allow us to do more ridiculous stuff, on a daily basis. Most likely we will be hiring a couple of fulltime video editors, a cameraman for field production, and a few other helpers. These people are all going to be working with the channel to help organize goofy material to be aired here at tomgreen.com and on TV. What does this mean to you guys? Well it will mean that every day when you come to tomgreen.com there will always be new material right here on the front page. It will be funnier material. How? Well, with a few extra people helping with the technology, editing, and day to day operation of the studio… I will be free to concentrate on what I really want to be doing. Thinking of, and executing silliness for you guys to enjoy. Coming up with stupid things to shoot on the street. Coming up with dumb stuff to do in the studio.
Over the last year the bulk of my personal time is spent literally figuring out how to make the cameras work. The video stream. The Technology. I enjoy this kind of stuff, because it has allowed me to build a studio that we can do whatever we want in. But I think I have figured all this stuff out now. We have a few more weeks of very serious upgrades happening here. Very soon the video here will be playing LIVE and On Demand at a rate higher that anywhere else on the internet today. And being an independent channel at last, we are able to make some decisions technically that we couldn’t before. We are now able to move forward and develop some new formats that haven’t been seen yet online. I can say that I have been watching tests of this technology every day, and tweaking it with our engineers. And the shit is dope. Period.
I guess the part that doesn’t really sound sexy. The part that you don’t see on the screen. Is why the hell does everything take so darned long? Well the simple answer is this. It costs money. These video editors and producers and people need to be paid. You can’t really get a decent video editor to edit 65 hours a week for free. It just doesn’t happen. So for the past year while we have been cranking out shows every night, I have spent my days building a business plan. Basically, finding partners out there in the television and online community who want to be part of this crazy little world. This is basically the story of my life at this point. But it is fun, and we are moving in the right direction. Probably this is something that people don’t fully get. Especially the naysayers and critics. On the surface it seems like we have been flipping the switch every night, and improvising. But there has been thousands of hours of prep work just getting the studio to work. This isn’t even factoring in the amount of time it takes, to raise funds, find production partners, and build a system that is going to work in the long run.
So this is what I have been doing. Sometimes I wish I could give you more detail about the day to day bullcrap that I have gone through trying to make this happen. But it is often pretty un-funny. I want this to be a funny place at the end of the day. Not some website where you only hear my complaining about all of the things that are going wrong. For the most part around here, I like to keep these behind the scenes details where they should be. Out of sight from you the viewer. Basically in the background. I suppose now that things are finally starting to come together, I may whip out the camera a bit more during the day. Just to show you guys a little bit more, about how all this stuff is coming together. But not too much. It is really more fun, to keep a lot of that garble a secret. I think you guys would rather believe, that this webovision stuff is all just googled eyes and giggles. We are moving in that direction gang. We are getting closer. Stick around here and I may let you in on a few more details. Stay tuned. This is going to be a really fun year.
Tom
Tom shared some of his favorite hip hop videos on his blog for all of us. I wanted to do the same. Here’s one of my favorite hip hop songs, “You Can Do It” by Ice Cube. CAUTION…THERE IS STRONG LANGUAGE IN THIS VIDEO!
Tom’s takin’ a break
Thursday, September 6th, 2007
Happy Thursday, everyone!
I hope that you all have had a great week so far! Tom posted this message over at his website, so I wanted to share it with you all:
We are taking a few days off the LIVE show for upgrades. I can’t say for sure when we will be back on, but it will be soon. I can promise that we will be shooting new video and keeping lots of daily stuff happening around here. So check in here at my blog and I will let you know an eta of when we willbe back LIVE. Until then, watch something in our on demand page. Stay tuned for some really cool new stuff. Thanks for your patience. You guys rock.
Sooooo, not quite sure when Tom will return with guests, but you all stay tuned to see! In lieu of Tom being without guests, I am going to take you back to a little ways on the show and bring you a clip with Andrew Dice Clay.
Uhh….for real? LOL Kinda reminds me of the grumpy old man clip that I shared with you all yesterday! LOL
I hope that you guys have a great day! Check back tomorrow for more past clips from Tom’s show!
Until tomorrow…cheers!
Larry, Rex and Tom
Wednesday, August 29th, 2007
Happy hump day everyone!
Well, Tom is back and is in full swing! It is great to have Tom back, but I gotta admit that I miss seeing guests on his show. This week there will be no guests on the show, and Tom is going to be doing surprise shows. Last night, Tom had his fire crotch friend Larry on the show, and hsi bird Rex was in prime condition for the show last night! Check this clip out to see what I mean…
Is it just me, or does Larry look a hell of a lot scarrier than Chucky? I kinda think that Chucky was cute, but dang…Larry is just down right frightening. Reminds me of the old episodes of “Friday the 13th”. Remember those? You know, the tv show that was based on items that were cursed and being sold from an antique store? Anyone remember this?? I’m showing my age here! LOL
On the Tom Green news front, Tom will be taking off the entire month of October due to filming that he will be a part of in Canada. Don’t worry, though, gang…I’ll still be here every day, and Tom has said that he will do some live feed shows from time to time while he is away. I can’t wait to see Canada live!
Also, I know that there are a ton of you that stop by here, so please take the time to leave a comment and say hello! I would love to meet you all! Don’t forget that we’re still working on a few kinks with contest prizes, but I promise you that they will be great rewards ( I don’t lie, and wouldn’t let you all down!). Keep checking back!!
Until tomorrow gang! Cheers!
